OUT AND ABOUT 38 AUGUST 2019 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition Children’s Harbor Wins Hoffmans Chocolates Ice Cream Sundae Competition for Charity Hoffman’s Chocolates held its annual Ice Cream Sundae Competition – Making Sweet Creations for Sweet Donations at Hoffman’s Chocolates/ BBX Capital’s corporate office on Tuesday, June 18. Eight non-profit organ- izations each partnered with a Hoffman’s store manager to create a spe- cial ice cream sundae for the competition. Apanel of five local judges deter- mined that the winning ice cream creation was Chil- dren’s Harbor’s ‘Harbor Lights’ created by Chil- dren’s Harbor and the team from Hoffman’s Chocolates Weston Town Center location. Taking home first- place, Children’s Harbor, a non-profit that provides nurturing, family group homes for siblings and pregnant/parenting teens in the foster care system, received a donation of $1,500 from Hoffman’s Chocolates. The seven other local non-profit run- ners-up that received $250 each include: Covenant House, FLITE Center, Family Promise of South Palm Beach, Women of Tomorrow, To- morrow’s Rainbow, Best Buddies Palm Beach and Locks of Love. Sitting as the tallest sundae, the Harbor Lights ice cream sundae winner featured a “light- house,” designed using an upside down ice cream sugar cone with a marshmallow covered in yellow sprinkles, perched on top of multiple scoops of ice cream, to represent shining light into the lives of under privileged chil- dren. The masterminds behind this delicious sun- dae were Children’s Har- bor Executive Director Tiffani Dhooge and Hoff- man’s Chocolates Weston store manager Natalia Smashy.
