www.goodnewsfl.org 37 AUGUST 2019 OUT AND ABOUT Feeding South Florida, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization serving South Florida, hosted its “Summer Hunger Ends Here” community breakfast, open to the pub- lic, on July 10 at Signature Grand in Davie. The event was presented by Delta Air Lines. During the breakfast, Feeding South Florida lead- ers including President and CEO Paco Vélez, Executive Vice President Sari Vatske and Board Members Bob McCabe and Eddie Rivera honored the organization’s partner agencies and volun- teers of the year. Honorees included Palm Beach County Agency of the Year, Our Support for Children; Broward County Agency of the Year, Fort Lauderdale Seventh Day Adventist Church; Miami-Dade and Monroe County Agency of the Year, Make-A-Wish Vet- erans; Feeding Palm Beach County Volunteer Group of the Year, Volunteers of the Palm Beaches; Feeding South Florida Volunteer Group of the Year, Bank of America; and Volunteer of the Year, Victoria Barnick. Feeding South Florida partners with 300 nonprofit partner agencies throughout its quad-county service area (Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties). In 2018, the or- ganization received help from approximately 27,000 volunteers. This year, 35,000 volunteers passed through the organization’s doors to help sort food for families in need.
