The evening was a celebration of life as Joy Wright, executive director of Hope Women’s Centers, announced that 770 abortion-minded women who visited their centers chose life for their babies so far this year. Keynote Speaker Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International, shared how he got his start in the pregnancy help movement in the late 1980’s as a volunteer at Hope Women’s Centers and became passionate about their mission to encourage and equip women and men to make informed life-affirming decisions regarding unexpected pregnancies while sharing the love of Christ. He was quickly invited to serve on their board and then as executive administrator. Today Godsey oversees Heartbeat’s core mission to be the leadership supply line for the growing pregnancy help movement worldwide. In recapping the history and importance of the movement, Godsey urged attendees to continue supporting the mission and to vote no on Amendment 4, an extreme and deceptive abortion law on the ballot in November that would permit abortion for any reason up to and during birth. Wright reported that there were 84,052 abortions reported in Florida last year and Broward County had the second highest number of abortions at 10,476. The vision of Hope Women’s Centers is to create a culture of life in which all life is respected and accepted as a gift from God and that healthy families flourish in community.
