GoodNewsFL.org 35 JANUARY 2019 OUT AND ABOUT Habitat for Humanity of Broward announced it has been named the 2018 Bank of Amer- ica Neighborhood Builder in Broward County. As a recipient of the grant, Habitat will receive $200,000 in flexible funding and leadership development training for its executive director and an emerging leader. “Habitat for Humanity is a long-time community partner that is working to impact one of the toughest challenges facing South Florida– access to afford- able housing and homeowner- ship,” said Lori Chevy, Broward County market president for Bank ofAmerica. “We are proud to recognize Habitat as a sec- ond time Neighborhood Builder in acknowledgement of all they do to advance economic mobil- ity for thousands of Broward County residents.” The unrestricted fundingwill be paid out over two years to help expand the work and im- pact of Habitat for Humanity in Broward County. The organiza- tion plans to utilize its flexible funding to develop its neighbor- hood revitalization program which lifts up entire communities where Habitat homes and fami- lies are located, providing lead- ership, critical repair and aging in place solutions. It will build its infrastructure to enable it to dou- ble new home construction from 20 to 40 homes per year by 2020. The grant will also help to open a second ReStore in Western Broward County.
