OUT AND ABOUT 34 FEBRUARY 2019 Good News • South Florida Edition On Wednesday, January 9thArc Broward celebrated the graduation of 16 students from Arc Educates. The event, which took place in the Sunrise CivicCenter’sGrandBallroom, honored students from their Material Handler Program, Entry Level Culinary Arts Cer- tificate Program, and Direct Support ProfessionalAdvance- ment through Training and Ed- ucation in Human Services (DSPATHS) Program. Arc students were all smiles as they walked across the stage to accept their diplo- mas. The heartfelt night was filled with remembrance as previous graduates gave pow- erful speeches and delivered words of wisdom to the new scholars. The ceremony also ap- plauded Arc Broward’s own employees who graduated from the DSPATHS program, which provides state-licensed training and experience-based learning for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). For more than 60 years Arc Broward has worked hand-in-hand with our com- munity, changing how people with disabilities and other life challenges are embraced and included. This critical work en- sures that people with disabil- ities, not only live, learn, work, and play in their communities, but more importantly, thrive.
