Good News - February 2019
GoodNewsFL.org 33 FEBRUARY 2019 OUT AND ABOUT Long awaited excitement built to a refined crescendo of animated conversations around science and faith as a highly-engaged crowd of nearly 200 registered guests gathered at new non-profit Veritas et Vino’s (V2) inaugural “Happy Thinking Hour. This South Florida launch was held at the Broward Center for the Per- forming Arts on January 11. V2 is the brainchild of well-known Rose Ann Lovell, whose family has generously impacted the community for generations. Registered guests at Veri- tas et Vino events are given the rare opportunity to meet, hear and personally engage with world-renowned speak- ers, including Nobel prize nominees, while enjoying very good wine, delicious hors d’oeuvres, luscious desserts and live chamber music. At this forum-styled event, guests mingled, then sat for a chat by MIT Prof. Ian Hutchin- son, on his new book, “Can a Scientist believe in miracles?” Robust Q & A – a signature of V2 events – was lively, the con- versation among guests was stimulating, the mood refined, energy animated and cordial. Veritas et Vino will offer its next event on February 8 with Dr. Henry “Fritz” Schaefer, one of the most quoted scien- tists in the world and a multi- ple nominee for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (U.S. News and World Report).
