LlFaer “The Gospel According to Scrooge” stage production returns for its second year, bringing Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to life in ministry to South Florida’s communities thisDecem- ber. Revelation Ministries, South Florida’s Christian performing arts organization, will present this free Christmas production at New Covenant Church onDecember 1, at Community of Hope onDecem- ber 7 and 9, and at St. Paul LutheranChurchonDecember 15, & 16. Revelation Ministries’ Director OksanaHortonshared that this two- act Christmasmusical performance with vivacious acting, singing and dancing “is an unforgettable story of how a life can be truly transformed by the love of God.” Theproduction is designed for audiences from varying walks of life. Actors of all ages will portray a story, which speaks to the sinful na- ture of man and God’s intervening providence. Horton said she chose this story particularly because it res- onates with both Christians and non-Christians. From their own up- bringing with this classic tale, the audience will recognize Scrooge and Tiny Tim and can easily relate with their experiences. “The Gospel According to Scrooge” is an entertaining yet meaningful way to impact our com- munity with the Gospel during the Christmas season,” Horton said. “Our hope is to show the love and mercy of God to aworld in desper- ate need of both.” “The Gospel According to Scrooge” is amusical adaptationof the classic tale, CharlesDickens’A Christmas Carol. Set in Victorian England on Christmas Eve, “it is about Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly, cynical oldman whose life is transformed by the spirit of Christmas.” Although everyone views him as cold-hearted, Scrooge has not always been so. Hisworld became darkened when as a child, his par- ents were imprisoned for debt. “Fi- nancially orphaned” and unable to help his family and himself, Scrooge was convinced that God had neglected him, and had to make his way through life on his own. Having chosen a life without God and relying solely on self, Scrooge becomes immersed with his needs and wants, as he turns cold, disgruntled and harsh. However, God loves Scrooge toomuch to leave him in that state. So, he bringsTheCratchits, a poor familywith a crippled son, TinyTim, intohis life. Their love for Christ and family, and their rare benevolence toward Scrooge highlight the fact that there is more to life than money. To ensure that Scrooge grasps the message, God sends three queer visitors. Expecting 4,000 people or more, this year, the cast will pres- ent a full production of See “The Gospel According to Scrooge” at threemajor venues inBrowardand PalmBeachCounties.At 7 p.m. on December 1, New Covenant Church, 1101 NW 33rd Street, Pompano Beach, will host themu- sical. On December 7 at 7:30 p.m. and December 9 at 2 p.m., Com- munity of Hope East Campus, 2341 South Military, West Palm Beach, will host it as well.
