Heffernan Guardian of Life Award is given each year by Broward Right to Life to an individual who has distinguished him- self in the defense of the un- born child. This year, the award goes to Dr. Norman Wise, Associate Pastor of First Church West in Tama- rac and Executive Director of Living Water Counseling. Dr. Wise is a local pio- neer in the pro-life move- ment whose involvement began in the late 1970s. In short order, he and his late wife, Terry, opened their home to women in crisis pregnancies, and he spoke at area churches on pro-life issues and formed a Chris- tian Action Committee which in 1981 began a “Women’s Pregnancy Center” located next to a Hollywood abortion clinic where he and others also did sidewalk counseling. Norm and Terry adopted a child in 1983 who would have been aborted, his oldest son Alex. And in 1985, he co- authored with Dr. D. James Kennedy, Nation in Shame, which defended the pro-life position on abortion, infan- ticide and euthanasia. Wise Honored As Guardian of Life John Aman presents award to Dr. Norm Wise.
