30 JUNE 2026 Good News • South Florida Edition Celebrates Graduates 2026 Camilla Escobar Valedictorian Cardinal Gibbons High School With a GPA of 4.0 and HPA of 5.5806, Camilla Escobar is a BCAA Scholar Athlete, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Commended Scholar, 3x Scholar Athlete, Pinnacle Award recipient, Silver Knight World Language nominee, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar, Riddell Scholarship recipient and recipient of The Cumming Family Business Award. She is a captain on the varsity girls soccer team, co-president of Model UN, president of the National Spanish Honor Society and president of an Education Rocks team fundraising for students' education in developing countries. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta and STEM Honor Society; a volunteer for the TOPSoccer program; and a member of Youth Leadership Broward. She plans to attend the University of Florida. Sahilye Coleman Valedictorian Calvary Christian Academy Hollywood Sahilye maintained a 4.0 GPA over the past four years, reflecting both her intellectual ability and unwavering dedication. She serves as President of the National Honor Society and has been a devoted member of the CCAH choir for the past two years. Sahilye has also contributed as the senior announcer for morning announcements, demonstrating poise, responsibility, and school spirit. A recipient of the prestigious Kiwanis Scholarship, she plans to attend Florida International University in the fall, where she will pursue her studies in Gynecology with the goal of making a meaningful impact in the field of women’s health. Michael Perez Salutatorian Calvary Christian Academy Hollywood Michael has been awarded the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship to Nova Southeastern University, where he will begin studying Computer Science this fall. A dedicated scholar and leader, he was inducted into the National Honor Society and served as Vice President of his school’s chapter. Beyond academics, Michael is passionate about serving others, volunteering weekly at a local food pantry, and participating in his first mission trip to Mexico this past January. Throughout his academic career, he has consistently maintained High Honor Roll status, reflecting both his commitment to excellence and strong work ethic. Juan Diego Perez Salutatorian Cardinal Gibbons High School With a GPA of 3.95 and HPA of 5.5323, Juan Diego Perez is a BCAA Scholar Athlete, AP Scholar With Distinction, Scholar Athlete, Silver Knight Social Sciences nominee, DECA District Champion for Accounting Applications, Youth Leadership Broward participant and a participant in Florida American Legion Boys State. He played two years of varsity golf and one year of varsity soccer and serves as co-president of Model United Nations, president of the Science National Honor Society, vice president of the Spanish National Honor Society and head of finance for Cardinal Gibbons’ DECA chapter. He is founder of Booster Meals, organized a camp for underprivileged children in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic, and is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta, STEM Honor Society and Athletic Honor Society. He plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania. Brady Surovek Valedictorian Cardinal Newman High School Brady Surovek has distinguished himself through academic excellence and leadership, completing all available high school math courses and advancing to college-level studies. A four-year varsity soccer player and three-year Key Club president, he launched impactful service initiatives and contributed over 400 hours tutoring local students. Brady will attend the University of Notre Dame. Max Mullen Salutatorian Cardinal Newman High School Max Mullen has demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and involvement throughout his high school career. A varsity weightlifting captain and award-winning athlete, he mentored teammates and helped grow the program. Max served as Vice President of Best Buddies, President of the School Band, and led major service efforts including his Eagle Scout project. He also contributed to Campus Ministry as a retreat leader. Max will attend the University of Florida. Jason Silla Valedictorian Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Jason Silla, Valedictorian of the Class of 2026, ranked at the top of his class all four years while completing one of CMCP’s most rigorous course loads, including 15 AP classes. He serves as President of Model UN, Vice President of Mock Trial, and a leader in Science Olympiad. A varsity golfer and ultramarathon runner, he also raised over $1,000 for Alzheimer’s research. Jason will attend the University of Florida to study Mechanical Engineering and pursue a career in aeronautics or structural design. Lorenzo Carlos Munoz Salutatorian Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Lorenzo Carlos Muñoz, Salutatorian of the Class of 2026, is a leader in academics and student activities at CMCP. He serves as President of Mock Trial and Science Olympiad and is a senior officer in Speech & Debate and Chaminade Scholars. A varsity cross country athlete and member of theater production, he also volunteers at a local hospital and performs with the Drumline. Lorenzo will attend the University of Florida to study Biochemistry and Political Science, pursuing careers in medicine and politics.
