As America celebrates its 250th Anniversary, GOOD NEWS WANTS TO KNOW... what is the most beautiful place you've visited in the United States, and what iconic American landmark is on your bucket list? Prior to moving to South Florida, our family had a cherished tradition of visiting Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We would attend the latest production at Sight & Sound Theatres, spend time exploring the local farms and beautiful countryside, and always make it a point to worship at our favorite Christian & Missionary Alliance church in the area. We have a deep appreciation for the simple, faith-centered and family-oriented culture of Amish Country, which made each visit especially meaningful. As for an iconic American landmark that remains on our bucket list, none of us has ever been to South Dakota. Visiting Mount Rushmore is certainly high on our list, and we hope to make that trip together as a family some day. Joseph D. Kenner, President, HOPE South Florida While the mountains of Colorado are beautiful both in the winter and summer, Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz come to my mind: “There’s no place like home.” We were privileged to move here from the Midwest, and we are regularly reminded that we live where many want to vacation and be. Since I have no bucket list, my answer is: FTL. William “Bill” C. Davell, Director, Tripp Scott There are so many beautiful places so I can't limit it to one, but Denali, Zion and Glacier National Parks are my favorites so far. Would really love someday to drive the coast of Maine. Bill Tolia, President, BrightStar Care Sunsets on the dunes of Western Michigan tops the list for me. The big hills of WV are a close second. The Grand Canyon still seems overrated; everyone disagrees. I need to go figure that one out soon. Bob Denison, President, Denison Yachting This is a toss-up for me, so I have to share two. Antelope Canyon in Arizona and floating on the Colorado river inside the Grand Canyon. Both were spectacular and timeless. I would love to walk through the Redwood Forest. Char Talmadge, Executive Director, Rescue Upstream As we approach our nation’s 250th birthday, I am reminded of the beautiful places that we have visited in our country. From the beautiful small oceanside towns that dot the coast in New England, to the mountains of the Front Range and the valleys of the heartland, and hills of the wine country, we have seen some beautiful places in America. The memory of these places just reminds me that we need to see more of America’s beauty in the coming years. God has truly blessed America! Chip LaMarca, State Representative, Florida House District 100 Last year Wendy and visited Alaska and it was incredible. I think the next place to visit would be the Grand Canyon. Exploring God's creation and witnessing His handiwork is such a great reminder of His mighty power. Chris Lane, President, First Priority South Florida What a hard question! There are so many: Yellowstone, Yosemite, Bryce, Zion, but believe it or not Biscayne National and John Pennekamp Parks are my true favorites. Some day, I want to go to Alaska! H. Collins Forman, Jr., P.A.. We love the mountains, so the most beautiful place we’ve visited is Yellowstone National Park (followed closely by Glacier National Park). We’ve checked a lot of landmarks off our list, but one iconic American landmark that is still on the bucket list is Redwood National Park. Craig D. Huston, Summit Achievers Having explored 44 of America's 63 National Parks, the pristine, high mountain lakes always best reflect God's creative beauty for me. Since I've been to each of our states, except Maine, I guess I'd yet like to experience Arcadia National Park there. Deborah Cusick, FAU Campus Volunteer, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship The most beautiful place I’ve visited in the United States is Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The iconic American landmark on my bucket list is Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, with the carved heads of four of the presidents of the USA. Dennis DeMarois, Executive Director/CEO, Gathering Palm Beach County The most beautiful is between South Florida, the coastline of Southern California and the countryside of West Virginia. Being from Washington DC, iconic landmarks there are hard to beat, and the meaning of the Statue of Liberty in NYC takes my breath away. My husband and I want to do an American history tour of Philadelphia, Boston, Plymouth, and from northern Virginia down into Williamsburg and Jamestown. Dolores King-St. George, President, King Communications and GraceNet Radio Driving through Yellowstone National Park is our favorite to date because of the variety of scenes including waterfalls, mountains, rivers, wild animals and geysers all in a day’s drive. We look forward to visiting the glaciers of Alaska. Don Campion, President, Banyan Air Service, and Team Lead, Egbe Medical Mission Char Talmadge Chip LaMarca Chris Lane William “Bill” C.
