36 MARCH 2025 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition COMMUNITY NEWS This year’s 4KIDS Galentine’s celebrations were filled with love and inspiration! First, leading ladies gathered at the Mary Porter Ballroom at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, where they spent the afternoon hearing powerful stories from women who have stepped into the world of foster care and are changing it for the better. The gorgeous, waterfront venue was a sea of red and pink as over 175 women united for one common goal: to make a lasting impact on children and families in crisis. Attendees enjoyed a thrilling raffle featuring over 20 luxury items and had fun capturing memories together at the photo booth—raising more than $85,000 and leaving empowered to take their next best step with 4KIDS. The following day, over 200 women gathered at the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club for a luncheon with the same mission: to break generational cycles and support the ministry of 4KIDS. Hosted by Vanessa Medina-Spector, Emmy award-winning journalist and news reporter, the event featured a heartfelt testimonial from 4KIDS Foster Mom, Melissa Brouillette. Guests were greeted by a welcoming committee of kiddos adopted by 4KIDS families, enjoyed the sounds of a live 4KIDS Hosts Inspirational Galentine’s Luncheons Left to right: Karen Francis, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale CarePortal Team Leader; Nicole Escobar, 4KIDS Foster Mom and Executive Director of Trees of Hope; Rochelle Holmes, Wife to 4KIDS President; Stephanie Chen, Chief Legal & Culture Officer at ChenMed Cheri Fuhrmann, Jessica Joy, Dina Kruetter Photo Credit: Justus Martin Grace Wesleyan Church in Fort Lauderdale celebrated five years as a new church community on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Grace Wesleyan was founded in February 2020 by a group of 25 people who decided it was time to leave their long-time mainline denomination church and start a God-centered, Bible-believing church in northeast Fort Lauderdale. From humble beginnings meeting in a local home, the young church started meeting in rented space at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church and has grown to about 250 unique attendees each month. For the first year, they met on Saturday evenings, and upon the hiring of their first full-time pastor, Rev. Myron Rhodes, Jr. in December 2020, services began being held on both Saturday evenings at 6 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Saturday services have a contemporary format with a praise band led by Frederico Colloca with lively Christian music and a modern, heart touching message. Sunday services are a blend of contemporary music and historical church elements. All services are “come as you are” with people in shorts and flip flops and others in business casual. Their vision statement says it all: Grace Wesleyan is a welcoming community of believers sharing Christ’s love, grace, and redemption with all.
