Good News - December 2024

The most generous gift I ever received was when, at the age of 14, I was offered a full scholarship to the Fairmont Center for Creative and Performing Arts by Jan Kuman, the director of the school. I could barely believe my ears when she offered it. As a child of Ukrainian immigrants who both worked multiple jobs to keep us fed and clothed, the idea of going to a school like the Fairmont Center was sheer fantasy. And yet, through her generosity, I trained under the auspices of some of New York’s finest dance and theater teachers. Fifty years later, I still marvel at her generosity and the goodness of God to me. Oksana Horton, Artistic Director, Torch and trumpet Theatre Co. Besides the obvious generous gift from Jesus Christ of eternal life, I would think that the most generous thing that ever happened to me was Jesus directing the removal of cancer from me. On a more worldly note, there was a young woman in South Korea who wanted her child to have a better life than she had, and for her little girl to come to America. This generous gift gave me a beautiful daughter and now 3 wonderful grandchildren that I would never have had except for her generosity! Patricia L. Colangelo, EdS., South Florida Bible College & Theological Seminary The most generous thing that has ever happened to me is that God gave me Salvation and continues to give me His daily grace and mercy. Along with that He has given me the most amazing wife, and two absolutely awesome daughters, and an incredible life with Kingdom Purpose, sharing the love of Jesus Christ with children!!! Coach Rick Andreassen, Founder and President, SAINTS Homeschool P.E. and SAINTS International Sports Ministry A generous act that left the greatest impression on me happened when I was 10 years old. A friend who was competing in the same swim event gave me his trophy for first place, when I had an asthma attack right before the race started and came in second. The event in question was one I usually won, and it was at the only meet where trophies were given out. So it was a very cool thing that made a huge impression on me as a youngster. Romney C. Rogers, Managing Partner, Rogers Morris & Ziegler LLP Please forgive me for not being able to pinpoint the most generous thing that ever happened to me, because God has caused his people to do many extra ordinary, generous things for me, which I am grateful. One of those extraordinary generous things is when God touched the heart of Attorney Robert G. Beatty, owner and publisher of the South Florida Times newspaper to be the master of ceremony for my annual Pastor appreciation at The Signature Grand for at least seven years without asking to be compensated, which I am forever grateful to him. O’Neal Dozier, Pastor, The Worldwide Christian Center Of course, the gift of new life in Christ through His sacrifice on my behalf is the most generous thing I will ever experience. A distant second would be the generosity of my parents in paying for my education. I hope to provide that same blessing for my kids. Dr. Scott Manor, President, Professor of Historical Theology, Knox Theological Seminary It was Thanksgiving Saturday morning 1991 in an empty office in Boca Raton, where my friend and colleague, Dave Roberts, was generous enough to ask me “What’s going on?” He then listened for almost two hours. After that he said, “You need a relationship with Jesus Christ!!!” My life changed then, and I am where I am today because of his caring and generosity!!!! Steve Solomon, Area Director, CBMC South Florida Truly the most generous thing that has ever happened to me in my life is that The Lord gave me the two most incredible parents. I have been beyond blessed Sue Trombino, Founder, Women Impacting the Nation In keeping with the Christmas theme, the most generous thing that has ever been done for me is - Jesus Christ died for my sins!
