30 JUNE 2023 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition CELEBRATES GRADUATES 2023 JackWeismann Outstanding Leader Fellowship of Christian Athletes Palm Beach A graduate of Jupiter Christian School, Jack Weismann has participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, received honor roll all four years, earned an FPL scholarship award, and completed 200+ hours of community service. Jack has demonstrated the true heart and character of a leader amongst his baseball teammates of four years. He also played golf for two years. Jack endured an injury on his wrist during the season and yet showed up to every single game to cheer on his boys. He is planning to attend Limestone University to play baseball in the fall where he will be studying Business Management with a minor in professional communications. JosephAquino Outstanding Leader Fellowship of Christian Athletes Broward A graduate of Piper High School, Joseph Aquino earned a weighted GPAof 4.4 and an academic GPAof 3.78. An active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, he was named 2022-2023 Defensive MVP and Defensive Lineman of the Year. In 2022 Joseph was selected for the BCAA North vs SouthAll-Star Football and in 2023 Public vs PrivateAll-Star Football. He is a Brian Picalo Nominee and BCAA ScholarAthlete and was also crowned Prom King in 2023. Joseph plans to pursue an accounting degree at St. Thomas University and play football as a defensive end, achieving on the field and in class. Greciana Castillo Valedictorian First Baptist Academy Greciana Castillo is the Valedictorian and an outstanding student at First Baptist Academy in Cooper City. She is graduating with a 4.1 GPA. Her hobbies include reading, experimenting with new foods and playing musical instruments. She also serves in her church’s media team. Graciana plans to attend Nova Southeastern University and will major in Computer Science. Shawn Brower Salutatorian First Baptist Academy Shawn Brower is the Salutatorian and an outstanding student at First BaptistAcademy in Cooper City. Shawn is graduating with a 4.0 GPA. His hobbies include competitive tennis and debate. Shawn holds several championships titles in debate competitions and plans to be a member of the debate team at Liberty University. Shawn will also be studying in Spain in the summer of 2023 and is currently a member of the Honors Society at Broward College. Shawn plans to attend Liberty University and will major in Politics and Policy and minor in International Relations. He plans to become a lawyer or in ambassador. Ana Carolina Paiva Valedictorian Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Ana Carolina Paiva earned a 4.0 GPA and a Honors Point Average of 5.19. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, she currently resides in Sunny Isles Beach. Her accomplishments include Gates scholar, recipient of a full ride scholarship to any university; published a paper on exoplanets and interviewed twoMIT graduate students on their research; won second place at the international space settlement design competition; won first place in the team component of the Barry University math competition; PinnacleAwardRecipient; NationalMerit Commended Scholar; College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program recipient. She plans to attend Columbia University, studying Mechanical Engineering and Political Science. Nicole Flores Salutatorian Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Nicole Flores earned a GPAof 4.0 and anHonors PointAverage of 5.16. Her accomplishments include: Published research on the effectiveness of various antibiotics on Bacillus Cereus; Published a book on how to start and run a successful nonprofit organization; Ran a Nonprofit Organization called “Letters for Dominick” which focuses on writing cards to hospitalized people; Started a Blog called “The Necessities” to serve as amental health outlet for people in need; President of Science Olympiad; Board Member of Women Engaged Club; Board Member of CM Scholars, Honor Program; APScholar with Honor Recipient; Hispanic and Black College Board Recognition Recipient; PinnacleAward Recipient. She plant to attend Brown University. Jase Zheng Outstanding Leader First Priority of South Florida A graduate of Spanish River High School, Jase Zheng was a part of First Priority last year as a student leader and the club’s secretary. The club had a breakout second year at Spanish River and helped bring the gospel to many students. Jase is the Class of 2023’s salutatorian and participated in several sports, including cross country, water polo, and track and field. However, the experience he considers to be most meaningful is his time serving in First Priority alongside the other members. Jase will be attending the University of Florida Honors College in the fall on a full scholarship to study aerospace and mechanical engineering. Lisa Navarro Outstanding Leader First Priority of South Florida Agraduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Lisa Navarro was a part of First Priority for seven years. This past year she was the President of the First Priority club at MSD. She was also the Parliamentarian Officer of her school’s NHS Chapter and the Vice President of the Drama Club. In the Fall she will be attending Florida State University to study Political Science. She hopes to go into the law and government field. Lisa is so grateful for all First Priority has taught her and how much of an impact it has had on her life. She is so happy to see all God has done through this organization.
