Emily Baldwin Co-Salutatorian Cardinal Gibbons High School Emily Baldwin earned a GPAof 3.99 and an HPAof 5.49. She was AP Scholar with Distinction (2022, 2023), took 11 AP classes and 6 DE classes, was Vice President of Key Club, Vice President of National English Honor Society, anActive member in National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Athletic Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, accumulated 368 volunteer service hours. His accomplishments include: Excelsior 12th Grade, AP Scholar with Distinction, Four Years Honor and the Presidential Award for Excellence. He plans to attend the University of Florida School of Architecture. Toula Petros Valedictorian Cardinal Gibbons High School Toula Petros earned a GPA of 3.98 and an HPA of 5.52. She was President of Key Club, President of Model United Nations Club, Team Captain and Winner of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society 2022 Student of the Year Campaign raising over $132,000, 2023 PinnacleAward Recipient, Recipient of the 2023 FloridaAthletic CoachesAssociation (FACA)AllAcademic Award and the FACAAll-State Award for Cross Country, Joe Di Maggio Sports Medicine Scholarship Recipient, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Scholarship Recipient, AP Scholar with Distinction, Excelsior and Presidential Award for Excellence, and accumulated 1,035 hours of Community Service. Toula plans to attend University of Florida. 28 JUNE 2023 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition CELEBRATES GRADUATES 2023 Reginald Heywood Valedictorian Calvary Christian Academy Hollywood Reginald “Reggie” Heywood received a scholarship to attend McNeese State University in Louisiana where he plans to study Pre-Law in preparation to become a corporate lawyer. Reggie earned the highest grade in U.S. Government at CCA Hollywood and was an Honor Roll student. He also excelled in athletics as a varsity football player. He shattered several school football records: most yards rushing in a season, most touchdowns in the season, and most rushing touchdowns in one game. Reggie credits his success to his training as an athlete, the values instilled by his parents, prayer, and his faith. Damia Lewin Salutatorian Calvary Christian Academy Hollywood Damia Lewin received a full-ride scholarship to attend Nova Southeastern University where she will be studying nursing. Damia has participated in track and field, cheerleading, and volleyball throughout the last four years in high school. She was named the Most Outstanding Player on her cheer team and received the Most Valuable Player award for track and field. She also competed at the State Finals for track and field. Damia has served as Student Government treasurer and has maintained her status as a High Honor Roll student. Isabel Gonzales Valedictorian Cardinal Newman AnAP Scholar of Distinction, Isabel has a GPAof 5.23 and is a member of NHS and the Spanish Honor Society. She is the recipient of the Cardinal Newman Medal of Excellence in Computer Science, Spanish, and Religion. Isabel received the Harvard Book Award given out by alumni of Harvard University to the top-performing student in the 11/12th grade reading classes in nearly 2000 selected high schools from around the world. An accomplished flutist, Isabel played at all school masses and was a member of the CNHS Concert Band. She received a superior rating from the Florida BandAssociation on her Flute Solo at the district and state competition this year. She will attend Ava Maria University with a major in nursing. JordanAnderson Salutatorian Cardinal Newman A recipient of the National Merit Scholarship Commendation Award with a grade point average of 5.14, Jordan is a member of various honor societies, including NHS, Spanish, and the National Society of High School Scholars. A multi-faceted scholar, Jordan served as Vice President this year and attended the National Student Leadership Conference at the University of San Diego. Her extracurricular activities included Green Club, Dance Team, Best Buddies, and Varsity Cheer Captain. Jordan is the recipient of the Cardinal Newman Medal of Excellence in English and is a Pathfinder Nominee in Science. She will be attending the University of Florida, majoring in Aerospace Engineering.
