49 March 2022 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition OUT AND ABOUT After raising over $400,000 at its 10th annual fundraising gala, Hannah’s Home of South Florida is moving to expand capacity to meet the needs of the single, pregnant young women in the home’s care. Every year, Hannah’sHome must turn away nearly 200 women due to a lack of capacity. “I felt that the event this year was filled with celebration and anticipation for the future of Hannah’s Home,” said Carol Beresford, founder of Hannah’s Home. “We look forward to expanding our property with four new cottages. This extra housing will give us the ability to bring hope to so many more young women and their children.” The annual gala, which featured cocktails, dinner and a live auction at the Pelican Club in Jupiter, was co-chaired by MaryLynn Magar, former Florida state representative, and Pamela Rauch, Florida Power & Light’s vice president of external affairs and economic development. Tania Rogers of WPTV made a special guest appearance as hostess. The event was coordinated by former mayor of the Village of Tequesta, Abby Brennan. As part of a $10 million capital campaign to add a twostory dormitory and four transition cottages, Hannah’s Home has nearly completed work on an on-site chapel. The nonprofit recently received a $100,000 donation to complete utility lines for the expansion, as well as the resources for one cottage. Hannah’s Home offers a two-year residential program that provides food, lodging, clothing, and medical care. Since its doors opened in 2011, 68 infants have found a home at Hannah’s Home. With a maximum capacity of eight women and their children, Hannah’s Home now is serving four resident mothers and their babies, with two more babies on the way. www.hannahshomesf.org.
