LOCAL 39 January 2022 www.goodnewsfl.org Good news • South Florida Edition Experience an inspirational leadership breakfast and high-speed driving experience with legendary NFL Coach and Champion NASCAR owner Joe Gibbs on Wednesday, January 19th beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Homestead Miami Speedway. Coach Gibbs led the Washington Redskins to win four NFC Championship titles and three Super Bowl titles over 12 seasons. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996. In 1992, Coach Gibbs founded his NASCAR team, Joe Gibbs Racing. The team has won five NASCAR Cup Series championships under his ownership. In 2020, Coach Gibbs was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Author of the New York Times Bestseller Game Plan for Life, Gibbs will share the life lessons that have brought him success and the strategies for applying his winning leadership formula for any individual or organization. Written with sports fans in mind, his book is an “average Joe’s” guide to what the Bible has to say about many topics in life. “You and I are players, God’s our coach, and we’re playing the biggest game of all,” said Gibbs. “What you find is that there’s really only two teams in the game of life. If you’re on God’s team, you can't lose.” It is the mission of Game Plan for Life to bring the message of Christ to all by equipping them to allow God to be their Head Coach and use the Bible as their playbook so that they can become leaders in their family, vocation and every area of their lives. Game Plan for Life has also teamed up with the College at Southeastern and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety to fully fund the North Carolina Field Minister Program. This is a fully paid, four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry with a secondary emphasis on counseling for inmates serving sentences ranging from 15 years to life sentences. The Field Minister program for inmates is fundamentally different from traditional prison ministry programs in that they train men to be influential leaders and ministers behind bars. Men receive a fully- accredited undergraduate Christian-based liberal arts education degree, and then return to their original prison to serve as spiritual leaders and pastors in their facility. These long-term inmates then have the greatest impact on the short-term inmates who will be going out into the community. “Those guys are going to be getting out and they’re going to be impacting their families and their business partners and friends, so there’s no telling what could come from this. This is an eternal impact and so for me and the race team here, this is something I felt could be a legacy that could go on forever,” said Gibbs via video. Coach Gibbs currently resides in Cornelius, NC with his wife, Pat. He continues to lead Joe Gibbs Racing and Game Plan for Life. Coach Gibbs travels across the country speaking at outreach breakfasts and to inmates through the Field Minister Program.
