Good News - September 2021

What am I doing here? I find myself way over my head as I’m reminded with more fre- quency that there are cultural differences in our worldview and to stay in my own lane. So I try to limit my pontification, but that’s not easy for someone like me. I’m reminded that my mind easily wanders in and out of song lyrics perhaps to detach myself that I’mnot alone inmy craziness of thought, even for amoment? That’s life. Humm…. “That's life” “That's what all the people say You're riding high inApril, shot down in May But I know I'm gonna change that tune When I'm back on top, back on top in June….. I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet Apawn and a king I've been up and down and over and out And I know one thing Each time I find myself Flat on my face I pick myself up and get Back in the race….” See what I mean? That stuff just happens, and even more than I like to admit. But, we’ve got a job to do. Wemust be vigilant if we want to keep andmain- tain our Freedoms, our hopes, our dreams, so when I suggest I have to “stay in my lane” perhaps I should just bow tomy cultural difference of being raised Jew- ish, and a common characteristic is answering a question with a question. For example – Mister: “how do you feel?” Me: “how should I feel?” Picture for a moment complacency. Are we complacent or lazy? That may be a distinctionwithout a difference. Or is it? Some peoplemay say “complacent” could be happiness or satisfaction; other people could interpret “complacency” as settling and compromising. But are we self-aware or even aware? 1 Peter 5:8 says to “be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roar- ing lion, looking for anyone he can devour.” While we don’t need to walk around in fear of the enemy, we should be mindful of his mission and his methods. Our freedoms are being challenged oh, so slowly, and as there are people who say, “what’s the big deal, it’s only….” And that’s exactly how it works. Yes, we need rules, laws if you will, but we have fundamental rights, and that’s what separates and makes America wonderfully different. But those rights of dissent are being stripped away little by little “for the good of the people” but which people? When you start to limit the size of the crowd, the places the crowd can congregate and which people can con- gregate, something is not right, and we must ask why? What’s the real reason? See, that’s my process: a question answered by another question, and that’s my lane. - Les PUBLISHER 4 SEPTEMBER 2021 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition South Florida Edition • Good News • September 2021 • Volume 23, Issue 6 - Leslie J. We didn’t run away, we didn’t hide. Well, things didn’t happen at once. Things happened very slowly. So each time a new law came out, or a new restriction, we said, ‘well, just another thing. It will blow over.’ When we had to wear the yellow star to be outside, we started to worry.” C O N T E N T S Good News • September 2021 • Volume 23 Issue 6
