Holiday shoppers can avoid the delays and uncertainty of the tangled supply chain by purchasing a gift from the Food For The Poor Christmas Gift Catalog in honor of a loved one and being a blessing to a child or a family in need. “Our Christmas Gift Catalog offers a gratifying way to embrace the spirit of the holiday season,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said. “Each purchase enables us to help the people we serve in Latin America and the Caribbean by providing resources and gifts that are not readily available. Their expression of pure joy and gratitude will be a great source of satisfaction for the people who buy the gift and the people they honor.” FFTP serves children and families in countries where healthy food, clean water, school supplies and livable housing are in short supply, if available at all. Each gift purchased in the FFTP Christmas Gift Catalog changes the holiday narrative for destitute children and their families. A gift of $10 will provide a soccer ball that will bring joy to a child accustomed to having no toys at all. A $30 gift will provide school supplies and a soccer ball, bringing a balance of education and recreation to a child in need. Some impoverished families have no access to a nutritious meal and instead rely on discarded food salvaged from garbage dumps. A gift of $25 can feed a family for a month, and a gift of $73 can feed a child for an entire year. FFTP gifts can also put poverty-stricken families on a path to sustaining themselves. A $30 gift will provide a family with baby chicks that will quickly grow to provide a sustainable source of protein from eggs and a steady income from egg sales. A gift of $100 will provide three piglets for a family to raise and breed pigs that will provide income and a source of food to break the cycle of malnutrition that puts so many families in peril. Buyers who wish to donate to FFTP and receive a gift for themselves or their loved ones can purchase a set of individually handcrafted cards created in Haiti with die-cut pieces of banana bark. Sets of 10 all-occasion or Christmas banana bark cards are available for a suggested donation of $20 per set. The cards give impoverished families an opportunity to earn an income for food, clothing and other necessities, and give donors a unique item to share or for their personal use. Many other gifts are available.
