www.goodnewsfl.org 71 NOVEMBER 2019 OUT AND ABOUT On October 17, 2019, Elite Foundation launched its yearly 1Day2 Freedom™ em- powerment event. This year's theme was based on the Foundation’s recent interna- tional bestseller release- Un- stoppable: Leveraging Life's Setbacks to Build Resilience for Success. The sold-out event was hosted at Jacaranda Country Club in support of ‘The Carpenter’ capital campaign to raise funds to build the first stabi- lization and assessment Safe- haven-shelter program for victims and survivors of human exploitation and sex trafficking in Broward County. The wonderful evening was filled with inspirational testi- monies from survivors once served by Elite, who today live in wholeness and are building their own advocacy platforms to be a voice for those still stuck in the dark- ness. Dr. Vera and Ms. Elliott shared how the Foundation is fighting to eradicate the Human Trafficking pandemic in our backyard through edu- cation, empowerment and leadership training, to co-cre- ate a future for every survivor. Keynote speakers; Dede Lomenick, Nadine Raphael and Ginger Martin collabora- tively shared wisdom and their unique strategies to overcome life’s setbacks. The room was filled with engaged people of influence who had gathered for one purpose…to make a difference.
