Good News - July 2019

PUBLISHER 4 JULY 2019 www.goodnewsfl.org Good News • South Florida Edition Why? As a toddler we learn a few words, and we marvel in wonderment as we get response. Then we begin the lifelong journey of the word “why?” We ask why a lot. Why do we have to eat vegetables ? Why can’t we go outside? Why do we have to wash our hands before eating just because I was playing with Ralphie my frog? Why can’t I take my pet hamster to school? Why? We grow older and learn to do as we are told, mostly out of trust and obedience, until the unthinkable happens, and then we return to “why?” Perhaps one of the most curious laments is “why” and the basis for study. We learn andmaster somemath, science and history. We learn lyrics to songs, learn how to play some sports. We get the hang of knowledge and the “why” becomes a little clearer. We don’t always know why someone gets sick, and we don’t always know why someone gets better. We think we know because we take some medicine or a doctor fixes us up. Then we learn there is no cure for the common cold or cancer or.... We again ask, “why?” The loss of a parent, brother or sister passing too young, a horrible injury to a best friend resulting in disability or death, and we become devastated, and now it’s why? The real challenge then begins: do we have hate! or faith? And even then, how spiritually connected are we? “You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you. You don’t own yourselves” (1 Corinthians 6:19 ERV). I hope you are enjoying a health summer. - Les South Florida Edition • Good News • July 2019 • Volume 21, Issue 4 - Leslie J.
