They were at- tracted by the draw of intriguing family relays, husband/wife Relay races including leap frog and running relays, full family sack races and tug of wars. Tra- ditional events such as the long jump, high jump and several professionally-timed races on the track, including the Milk Mile, rounded out the event that all members of the family could participate in – toddlers to grandparents. With thirty dif- ferent events, hundreds of rib- bons were awarded on our medal podium, all hosted by the South Florida HEAT. Founded in 2004, the South Florida HEAT is a not- for-profit family sports ministry, that serves as a home for the homeschooler, offering com- petitive athletics in up to nine different sports where compe- titions are against local middle schools and high schools. The SFHEAT also offers social ac- tivities for homeschoolers throughout the year featuring a Homecoming Week, which in- cludes a Homecoming Dance with up to 300 attendees each year. This August begins the volleyball, swimming and cross country seasons.
