Good News - October 2018
LOCAL 24 OCTOBER 2018 Good News • South Florida Edition You press “seek” and suddenly your car or earphones are filled with music that encourages you and words that challenge you deeper in your journey with Christ. You’ve dis- coveredSouthFlorida’s localChristian radio station, 107.1 Spirit FMRadio. Connecting 24/7 Launched just two years ago, 107.1 Spirit FM Radio is an out- reach ministry of Calvary Chapel Pompano Beach. Through a series of opportunities that could only come from God, Pastor Ken Kerri- gan and the church leadership began a journey to provide hope, encouragement and sound biblical teaching to Broward County. "I be- lieve that radio broadcasting is the most effective way to reach so many people with the gospel mes- sage outside of the church walls. Christian radio is no longer a quiet whisper but has now exploded on the scene inmany media platforms. Spirit FM Radio -107.1 provides 24/7 Christian music and ministry for all ages.” Although the broadcast area is a slice of Broward County, the reach of 107.1 Spirit FM Radio’s mes- sage is far broader. Pastor Ken continues, “Technology has en- abled us to simultaneously broad- cast our live radio programs in video form to FaceBook, YouTube, and many other Internet venues as well as through FM radio. In John 17:20 (NKJV) we see that Jesus prayed to the Father ‘I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.’ I invite you to help support and pray for Spirit FM Radio as we bring the message of hope and life through our Savior Jesus Christ." Tuned in With every new technology, predictions abound about the de- mise of terrestrial radio (radio ac- cessed through dialing into a specific frequency). But the statis- tics are quietly startling. According to statista.com , during an average week in March 2018, men 18 years or older listened to the radio for 876 minutes or 14 hours and 35 min- utes. Overall, the weekly radio reach in the United States was just shy of 90 percent of the population. Think about where and even why you listen to the radio. It’s most often companionship for your com- mute or maybe an accompaniment to your work around the house. Without the competition of other voices, radio has the potential to penetrate your thoughts and emo- tions to lift your spirits and to encour- age you with the message of hope. "Spirit FM Radio is an exciting medium that brings the word of God and the salvation of Jesus Christ to many timesmore people than inside our church walls. If even a single person comes to know Jesus and the message of the gospel, I would count that as a success," said Ryan, a Spirit FM Radio listener. “We are blessed as a church, Calvary Chapel Pompano Beach, to have been given the opportunity to spread theGospel message through our radio station 107.1 FM. SpiritFM Radio, in the local area and through- out the world via the internet,” said Pastor Ron Burr, Spirit FM Radio station manager. Reaching their world The on-air programming for 107.1 Spirit FM Radio reflects the church’s desire to reach their com- munity and beyond. Through the variety of music, teaching from na- tionally recognized Bible teachers and “In theWord Live,” a conversa- tional Bible Study each Sunday at 6 p.m., the station is connecting to lis- teners where they are and when they need it. “Spirit FM Radio - 107.1 is a great radio station. I love that it has teaching and music. You can hear some of the best teachers around. They are well grounded and they teach you. They don't preach to you. The music is a mix of current contemporary as well as older con- temporary which is really fun be- cause the older contemporary takes me back to an earlier time in my walk with Jesus. The Sunday night Bible Study (In theWord Live) is always very interesting. It is an- other opportunity to draw closer to Christ. I would highly recommend Spirit FM for your listening enjoy- ment and as a way to further study God's Word,” said Jeri, a 107.1 Spirit FM Radio listener. Taking the next step With all its potential and bene- fits, radio and 107.1 Spirit FM Radio is just the first step in connecting to the hearts and lives of listeners in BrowardCounty. For thosewithout a church home, Pastor Ken extends an ongoing invitation to join the family at Calvary Chapel Pompano Beach for their weekly Wednesday night serviceat 7p.m. or Sundaymornings at 10:15 a.m. For more information, go to SpiritFMRadio.com.
