FreedomChallenge’s Team Advent, a group of optimistic women from Advent Church in Boca Raton devoted to the cause of ending the enslave- ment of women and children worldwide, held a fundraiser March 24th. Through gener- ous donations the group raised $35,000 that will be used to support projects in India and Moldova. According to Susan Hagen, Team Coordinator, “Blue is the color of the Na- tional Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign and the Blues are a genre of music that addresses the darkest is- sues of life with an unstop- pable optimism, so it seemed fitting for the participants to be dressed in blue while being entertained by a live blues band.” In India, TeamAdvent has been supporting a project over the past six years to help young girls that were at risk from the practice of temple prostitution. During this time, they have seen the sponsored shelter grow from 15 to 50 young women. The young women are taught life skills and given an education. This year, Team Advent’s funds will also go to help sup- port projects in Moldova, the poorest country in Eastern Eu- rope. The projects in Moldova provide food and support to school age children, education to vulnerable girls age 10-16, and rescue and rehabilitation to girls who have been trafficked.
