Miracle Mission in the Holy Land "Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). It was an honor to assist in delivering special pediatric wheelchairs in a "Miracle Mission; where Christians and Jews joined together to aid the children in the Holy Land of Jerusalem." The Forster Foundation and Baruch "Bill" Forster enthusiastically joined, funded and shipped the mission trip with the global wheelchair ministry Hope Haven International from Rock Valley, Iowa, delivering and fitting 184 pediatric wheelchairs and active wheelchairs to children and young adults in nine different Jerusalem hospitals. Hope Haven International has delivered more than 130,000 free wheelchairs to the needy in over 106 Countries worldwide since 1993, but never before to the Holy Land. Eighteen people participated from Florida, Iowa, S. Dakota, Minnesota and Canada including dear friends Julianne and Omar Aleman, frequent participants in wheelchair mission trips around the globe. This "Holy Land Miracle Mission" trip was unusual in the fact that Israel is a highly developed nation with su- perior hospitals and still is overwhelmed and in need of wheelchairs, especially pediatric wheelchairs, which often cost in excess of $4,000. "In every way we’re troubled but not crushed, frustrated but not in despair, persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed" (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). - Les PERSPECTIVE 4 Still Waiting on Article – by Stephan Tchividjian INSIGHT 6 The God Who Sees – by Rob Hoskins CHURCH UNITED 8 Uniting the Church for Mission – by Edwin Copeland LIFEPOINTS 10 Good News Bad News – by Dr. Gary Hewins LIFEWORK LEADERSHIP 12 Lifework Alum Helps You SQUEEZE The Most Out of Your Money – by Shelly Pond PARENTING 14 Finishing Well – Dr. Bob Barnes and Torrey Roberts GOOD NEWS WANTS TO KNOW 20 – 22 When you celebrate a special occasion, what is your go-to restaurant and why? The 4KIDS EPICApproach addresses the emotional, physical, intellectual, and char- acter based needs of kids who have experienced trauma. Opened in Feb- ruary, this room was designed specifically as a meeting place for kids where counselors can utilize play therapy techniques taught in the ther- apeutic EPIC parenting program. Several donors contributed to the build out, which includes hanging chairs, a lighted circular sofa built-into the wall, a tumbling mat and a full array of toys, including a sand box. Mariana Caro, MSW, a 4KIDS licensed therapist, explained that the room helps children open up. “Toys are children’s words and play is their language,” said Caro, quoting Garry Landreth, author of Play Therapy: TheArt of Re- lationship. For kids who have been uprooted this is one place that is con- sistent. “Kids walk in here and they feel safe. It’s a space they know is theirs. That helps us do the work so much faster and makes them feel important.” Photography by Justus Martin. www.JustusMartinPhoto.com Dear Editor, When Jesus spoke to His disciples about going the extra mile, it seems that He might have had your Senior Marketing Manager, Buddy Helland, in mind. First, Buddy was very creative in helping me to come up with an affordable way to advertise in The Good News Magazine. That alone could have been enough, but not for Buddy. He went out of his way to “cross-pollinate” me with his other clients so that wherever there was some synergy between our business inter- ests, we could connect. Buddy’s activities directly impacted my new membership in the Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC). That, in turn, led me to obtain a listing from one of Buddy’s other clients whom I met at that function. And he never fails to try to promote my business on Face Book whenever he sees one of my posts. Buddy’s approach is far above just selling ad space. He really demonstrates a personal interest in the success of my business. The extra mileage is truly appreciated.
