A particularly moving season of the show featured 85-year-old Wilma “Tinky” Stuart donating her Eustis, Fla., home to a mili- tary family that couldn’t a ord their own. Wilma, whose late husband and three brothers were servicemen, was inspired to give after watching an epi- sode of Military Makeover . “The service men and women have sure done a lot for us,” she said. “It’s time that we start giving back to them.” The Travis family, the recipients of the home, were extremely touched by Wilma’s selfless ser- vice—the road had been bumpy for them since Army vet Tommy Travis su ered a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder from a grenade attack in Iraq. Tommy, his wife Bethany and their two toddler daughters were running out of space in their cramped duplex. Now the girls have a yard to play in and the whole family gets to enjoy an extensively renovated home, complete with a swimming pool. “We’re just super blessed and excited because Wilma is an archangel, I mean she’s incred- ible,” Bethany Travis said. “I just can’t believe she allowed us to have her home. We are so hon- ored and so excited for this new start for our family.” The team from Military Make- over recognizes there is an ur- gent need to aid families like the Travises, so they do their part by helping turn their houses into homes. Lee Ermey has appeared in more than sixty feature films, including Full Metal Jacket, Seven, Leaving Las Vegas , and the Toy Story movies. He continues to work as an actor and as the spokesman for several companies. Before becoming an actor, Ermey served 11 years in the Marine Corps, two of which were spent as a Drill Instructor. In 2002, he received an honorary promotion to Gunnery Sergeant, becoming the first retiree in Marine Corps history to be promoted.
