The Walk and Run are held annually at John Prince Park, in Lake Worth, and are First Care’s second largest fundraising event. Over $150,000 was raised by participants to give women in crisis pregnancies a place where they and their unborn babies are valued, loved and protected. “This was the best turnout that we have had in five years,” said Beau Heyman, executive di- rector of First Care. “Our goal is to have a fun community event where we can cele- brate life.” It can be hard to keep an event fresh after 35 years, so four years ago First Care added a 5K run to the tradi- tional walk to attract more people. “The 5K has intro- duced so much fun and ex- citement into our event,” said Michele Ly, who coordinates the walk and run. “The com- munity has really responded to this event and we have seen in grow for five straight years.” First Care operates four women’s clinics across Palm Beach County that help women and families in crisis preg- nancies choose life for their unborn babies. Boca Raton Christian School is proud to congratu- late senior, Stephanie Cast- ing, on being awarded the prestigious Gates Scholar- ship. She also plays violin in the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County. The Gates Scholarship covers college expenses for four years including room, board, books, transportation and personal expenses. Ear- lier this year Stephanie was accepted at Columbia Univer- sity in New York, where she plans to study political science and human rights. Stephanie wants to be light in a very worldly setting and hopes to show the love of Christ and his importance as the center of her life.
