Many elderly resi- dents living at Park Summit, a long-term care center in Coral Springs, were able to relive their senior prom experience. OnMay 24th, an enthusias- tic group of willing volunteers from Parkridge Church of Coral Springs partnered with Hear2Heart Outreach of South Florida to recreate one of the most memorable experiences in an individual’s lifetime. It was an afternoon filledwithmusic, danc- ing, food and laughter; every- thing you would expect from a senior prom including the crown- ing of a Prom King and Queen. Blake Silverstrom, execu- tive director of Heart2Heart, said, “All of the residents, volunteers and staff had such a great time. If only others in our community could see and feel the joywe ex- perienced today, they would un- derstand their Kingdom role as alleviating loneliness in the aging population of South Florida. Heart2Heart partners with local churches like Parkridge to recruit volunteers for the purpose of touching the lives of lonely seniors. Senior Prom Memories Live Life Forward is a TV series airing on Lifetime TV and produced by con- tent solutions provider BrandStar that spreads awareness about how deeply we can touch lives through community involvement. Each episode is themed around a social impact issue of critical importance, such as poverty, youth empowerment and sustainability. The show highlights inspiring campaigns launched by nonprofits and corporate partners that embody the phrase “do- ing well and doing good.” Live Life Forward ’s inaugural sea- son explored meaningful topics like bullying, homelessness and hunger, healthcare and building schools for needy children around the world. One particularly inspiring episode from LLF ’s first season profiled All- state’s #THEYSAY Project, which challenges the negative stereotypes attached to today’s youth, showing that young people are fully capable of making a di erence. Allstate part- nered with WE Charity, helping to bring WE Day events to tens of thou- sands of youth across the U.S. Last year, more than 1 million youths took part in WE programs across the U.S., supporting WE’s vision of shift- ing the world from “me” to “we” by empowering all people to change the world. In the upcoming season, one of the first organizations LLF will profile is Building Homes for Heroes, which helps rebuild the lives of soldiers who su ered injuries serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Building Homes for Heroes o ers ren- ovated foreclosed homes to wound- ed veterans and builds ground-up homes for veterans who are more severely wounded. All homes are do- nated 100% mortgage-free, removing financial burden, restoring freedom and helping these wounded warriors live more independent lives. Building Homes for Heroes gifted 30 homes in 2017—one home every 12 days—and are looking to gift be- tween 33 and 36 homes in 2018. At its core, Live Life Forward is fo- cused on organizations and ordi- nary individuals who are devoted to changing the world, and ultimately driving a movement that can moti- vate volunteering to serve others for generations to come.
