OUT AND ABOUT 24 JULY 2018 Good News • South Florida Edition Covenant Village of Florida recently played host to a group of 25 high school students participating this summer in the AIM (Achieve in Medicine) High program at Nova South- eastern University. Those students are exploring ca- reers in health professions. The visit to Covenant Vil- lage of Florida was an op- portunity to spend time with residents and obtain a point of view regarding what life is like for older adults. While at the community, residents interacted with the students by showing them some of the creative art projects such as Create-a- Bear and woodworking. The Villagers, a resident band, played a few songs for the group and several resident Veterans’ told their stories about serving their country. “The student were quite surprised by the many things happening at our campus and how much we all do here in giving back to the community,” said Ann Baldassarre, Covenant Village of Florida resident. “I think all of us were humbled that the stu- dents wanted to take the time to learn from us.” Davie United Methodist welcomed Scott Didriksen as their new Senior Pastor in June. Didriksen will be taking over for Pastor Zig Bay,s who is the new sen- ior pastor at Chaires United Methodist in Tallahassee. Didriksen is coming from Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Mar- gate and will be joined by his lovely wife Lauren and three children, Shane, 14; Peyton, 12; and Riley, 2. “I believe strongly that the church is used by God to bring us into a closer re- lationship with each other and God through Jesus Christ,” said Didriksen, re- ferring to Acts 2:42-45. “While the congrega- tion is sad to say good bye to Pastor Bays, we know God has great plans for him and his wife Cindy at their new church,” he added. Covenant Village of Florida resident Ann Baldassarre (center) shared in- formation about the community’s Create-a-Bear program with high school students from across the country.
