2018 - To Life! Welcome to 2018, we've been anxiously awaiting your arrival! In this January issue we welcome Omar Aleman to our pages with his "Undercover Christian", a fascinating testimony as retrospective of a life filled with intrigue while favoring God’s wishes, quite a balancing act and deftly done. Editor Shelly Pond conducted a most extraordinary interview with Don Campion on his life, his mission, his beliefs and the impact that Lifework Leadership has had. Lifework Leadership is transformational for the 600+ South Florida leaders fortunate enough to be invited (in the past thirteen years) to go through this once-a-month course that challenges minds and engages hearts to lead like Jesus. 2018: The significance of the number eighteen in the Bible comes from its symbolic meaning for bondage. After taking possession of the promised land, the children of Israel were in bondage to several nations and peoples before Saul was made king. Two of their enemies – Eglon the Moabite king and the Philistines (with the help of the people ofAmmon) -– oppressed them for 18 years (Judges 3:12, 14, 10:7 – 8). Joshua led the children of Israel into the promised land after the death of Moses. Seven years later, in 1398 B.C., he completes the dividing of Canaan among the Israelites. For the next 18 years, until his death at the age of 110, he serves as Israel's first Judge. In the period preceding Israel's first human king (1398 to 1050 B.C.), a total number of 18 people served as Judges: They were Joshua, Othniel, Ehud, Deborah, Barak, Eli, Gideon, Abimelech, Tola, Jephthah, Samson, Samuel, Ibzan, Jair, Elon, Abdon and Samuel's two sons Joel andAbiah. To the Jewish, 18 is among the most significant of numbers; celebration of and to life. It's "chai", meaning "alive" or "living" ...and the significance to reward in multiples of $18 is Chai, $36 is double chai, and so on. So, 2018 is our Good News "To Life" as we will continue to strive for excellence in our mission to produce the type of publication that best glorifies God, our boss.
