HOPE South Florida held its Annual HOPE for the Holidays Gala on De- cember 1 at the Coral Ridge Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale raising more than $130,000. The pro- ceeds will benefit homeless women, children, families and veterans through the programs and services pro- vided by HOPE South Florida. About 300 energetic at- tendees celebrated another year of making a difference in Broward. HOPE South Florida, a pre-eminent homeless organization in Broward, has been a life- line and empowering agent, assisting families to regain their feet, marshal their resources and plan- ning and implementing strategies with access to housing, jobs and support- ive services that strengthen families. In 2017, they increased meals served from 55,000 last year to 80,000 this year. HOPE South Florida has secured long term housing from 150 home- less families and veterans to 215 over the same pe- riod. The recent acquisition of a Mobile Shower unit will provide up to 600 showers to individuals this year. They also partner with more than 77 churches across the county, provid- ing emergency short term housing, shared meals and family support services for those in need. “Many thanks to Jen- nifer Stepelton, Event Chair, the committee mem- bers and Sheneka Spencer, Director of Devel- opment for spearheading such an amazing and suc- cessful fundraising event,” said Dr. Ted Greer, Jr., CEO of HOPE South Florida.
