WestminsterAcademy had five students travel to Tampa for the All-State Music Confer- ence. The students were ac- cepted into one of three main programs: All-State Orchestra, All-State Band and All-State Choir. These students are among the top in the state. They met for three days of re- hearsals before putting on a full program at the Tampa Conven- tion Center. Hannah Billings (WAsoph- omore, bassist) andA.J. Kozich (WA eighth-grade, cellist) were among those who performed in theAll-State Orchestra. TheAll- State Choir included Christine Kamm (WA junior) for the Sight-Reading Choir, Rachel Castillo (WA freshman) for the High School Concert Choir, and Pauline Baxter (WA eighth grade) for the Middle School Mixed Choir. All five students represented South Florida well. Holding signs declaring “Pray to End Abortion” and “Abortion Hurts Women,” some 50 indi- viduals stood, stretched along the sidewalk at the annual local Rally for Life organized by Broward Right to Life. Similar events took place across our nation. The Broward rally featured, via a live feed on loudspeaker, Pres- ident Donald Trump as he ad- dressed the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. “You love every child born and un- born, because you believe that every life is sacred, that every child is a precious gift from God," the President told thou- sands gathered on the Capital Mall. “Under my administra- tion, we will always defend the very first right in the Declara- tion of Independence, and that is the ‘right to life.’” Tewannah Aman, execu- tive director of Broward Right to Life , shared, “I am one of the millions of women who have lost children to abortion since 1973.” She said, “God wants individuals to experi- ence peace and hope after abortion. In this position, Rivinius will work alongside the Broward College advance- ment and Foundation teams to raise funds for scholarships, academic programs and learn- ing facility enhancements. Rivinius comes to Broward College after having served for eight years at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He most recently held the position of Assistant Vice President, Ad- vancement Operations/Cam- paign Director. Prior, he served as the university’s Ex- ecutive Director of Donor Re- lations and Stewardship. Previously Rivinius spent 23 years at Eckerd Col- lege in St. Petersburg, eventu- ally as Director of Gift Planning and Administration. Rivinius holds a B.A. from Eckerd Col- lege and an M.A. from the Uni- versity of Michigan. “Scott brings extensive expertise in development and advancement to our already robust team,” said Nancy R. Botero, Vice President for Ad- vancement and Executive Di- rector of the Broward College Foundation. The Foundation is the means of making charitable contributions to Broward Col- lege.
