Sixteen and a half years ago: 9/11. Sandra Cahill (mother of Senior Pastor of CRPC) and I were at a CRPC Women's Bible Study that morning when our facilitator an- nounced our nation was under attack. The first plane hit the twin towers and we were dismissed. God had called his people to pray. As I am sure this impacted many of us to "seek the Lord while he may be found." Isaiah 55:6a We waited for the elevator to take us up to the balcony of the sanctuary, and as the doors opened, there was Dr. Kennedy going up to his library. We knew our world had been changed forever! "If my people who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear fromheaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). - Gita Santangelo, Community Prayer Partner My Profound event: September 11th, 2001 – 9/11. This was my generation’s “Pearl Harbour.” America had been attacked! I walked into the warehouse of Best Roofing at 9:15 and watched the replay of the planes crashing into the twin towers. I knew life was going to change and had no idea what was next. I turned on the news and saw the second plane hit and even- tually both towers crumbling before my eyes. As a new mom at the time, my heart broke for the families holding up pictures in despair, hoping someone would find their loved ones. On 9/11/01 I was serving Jury Duty in Broward County. At first it was surreal to see what was happening in New York City. But then after a few minutes over 300 people realized what was happening, and it was difficult to see how differ- ently people responded. They were not sure if they were going to close the courthouse but then after the plane hit the Pentagon, they weremaking somany announcements. I remember our cell phone service did not work because the President was in Florida; and on the drive home I heard one emergency announcement after another. After this attack we were all very aware of our mortality and realized that no one is guar- anteed tomorrow.
