H. Wayne Huizenga 1937-2018 The invite read: Family and Friends at a private Memorial Service for our father. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 4:00 PM Everyone was comfortably in their seat by 3:58. Respect. Friend John McWhinney, direct from Ireland, sang "Danny Boy." The assemblage filled the large sanctuary at The First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. The Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport must have been busy as lead- ers from around the world came to pay respect and celebrate "Wayne" for a life well lived. Pastor Larry Thompson officiated and was warm, engaging and masterful, talking about a subject he knew well; a beguiling theme about a private Titan magnate with steel blue eyes with an amazing warm twinkle. Generous. Wayne just wanted to "help." "He is our Wayne and will be in our hearts forever." Pamela Huizenga Alexander, daughter of Marti and Wayne Huizenga, spoke about "what an amazing ride they have been on," sharing warm personal mem- ories about her family; her dad. No need to recount the accomplishments of H. Wayne because it appeared that hundreds of CEO's, celebrities and sports legends were sitting in the audience as testimony to the typical bio run-down you would read about in the papers or business magazines, and this was about Wayne the father, grand- father and "best friend" to people like Auto Nation CEO, Mike Jackson. Jackson, recalling humorous stories about triumphs and tribulations and when faced with daunting challenges how Wayne stepped up and "we" will make it happen. H. Wayne Huizenga, Jr. shared how proud he was in 2004 to stand shoulder to shoulder as his dad repeated the sinner’s prayer and invited the Lord into his heart and the fulfillment he felt knowing he would have eternity together with his mother and father in heaven. Wayne and Marti Huizenga touched almost every charity and initiative and leave a legacy of amazing humanity with amazing grace. You could see it in the eyes, the body language; here was Wayne Huizenga the chairman of dozens of companies led by dozens of CEO's and dozens of presidents, and when they or their people speak and mention "the boss," there is no mistaking that H. Wayne Huizenga was that person. - Les Feldman, publisher PERSPECTIVE 4 Step – Hold – Step – Hold – by Stephan Tchividjian INSIGHT 6 How Screens Are Killing Teens – by Rob Hoskins CHURCH UNITED 8 Soul Care for Pastors – by Alan Platt LIFEPOINTS 10 Scotland and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School – by Dr. Gary Hewins LIFEWORK LEADERSHIP 12 Family Legacy from Lifework Leadership – by Shelly Pond PARENTING 14 Raising Kids of Conscience – Dr. Bob Barnes and Torrey Roberts GOOD NEWS WANTS TO KNOW 20 – 22 What’s a big historical event that had a profound impact on your life?
