Twenty talented young women with various developmen- tal disabilities competed in the 5th Annual Miss Arc Broward Pag- eant presented by Holland & Knight on Sunday, November 12th at Parker Playhouse. Con- testants, ranging from ages 6 -17 years old, showcased their indi- viduality in the categories of evening wear, talent, and person- ality for the panel of judges and attendees. Publix Super Mar- kets, Inc. Media and Community Relations Manager Nicole Krauss and NBC6 South Florida Morning Anchor Sheli Muñiz served as the event's emcees and held an in- spiring question and answer ses- sion with the 20 contestants. More than 700 attendees watched as Genesis Altamiranda was crowned as 2018 Miss Arc Broward and Saylor Burgoyne was crowned as 2018 Little Miss Arc Broward by 2017 Miss Florida USA, Linette De Los San- tos and 2017 Miss Florida Teen USA, Victoria DiSorbo. Both girls will represent their fellow contest- ants throughout the year at vari- ous community events. “For more than 60 years, Arc Broward has worked to change the perception of individuals with disabilities and life challenges throughout the South Florida community,” said Jessica Ro- driguez Chief Marketing & Devel- opment Officer for Arc Broward. Twenty Talented Young Women with Disabilities Competed in a One-of-a Kind Pageant MercyMe Lifer Tour "Rocked The Rain" at the Pom- pano Beach Amphitheater on October 28 and The Good News was there along with the awesome gang at 88.1 WAY- FM - South Florida! Thousands of hardcore fans braved the weather in order to worship and enjoy the tunes of MercyMe with special Guests Ryan Stevenson And Unspoken! Tropical Storm Philippe bowed to "The King of Kings" and held no thunder or lighten- ing during the entire concert, al- lowing worshipers to stay & praise! A big thank you to Brad Bacon and Cameron Mays for a great job putting together the concert and for the hospitality! God Is Good and worthy to be praised…Rain or Shine!
